Terms & Conditions
Last updated: October 2026
1. The service
FireShield ("we", "us") monitors the Google Cloud spend of the projects you link and, when that spend crosses thresholds you configure, carries out the actions you choose: notifying you by email, Telegram or Slack, calling a webhook on your own infrastructure ("Soft Kill"), or disconnecting the project's billing account ("Hard Kill"). FireShield works through Google Cloud Budgets and the cost data Google publishes for them.
2. The access you grant
To link a project you sign in with Google and grant a short-lived authorization to list your Google Cloud projects and manage Cloud Billing. FireShield uses it once, during linking, to grant its own service account the Billing Account Administrator role on the billing account the project uses. From then on FireShield acts through that service account, never through your personal authorization, which is not stored.
That role applies to the whole billing account, not only to the linked project. FireShield only uses it to create and update the budgets for the projects you link and to run the actions you configure on them. You can revoke it at any time by removing FireShield's service account from the billing account's permissions in the Google Cloud console; protection stops for every project on that account when you do.
3. Hard Kill
A Hard Kill disconnects the project from its billing account. Google then stops every paid service in the project, and resources and data that depend on billing may be shut down or deleted by Google. FireShield runs a Hard Kill automatically, without asking for confirmation, as soon as a threshold you attached it to is crossed. Only configure it if that outcome is acceptable to you. Restoring service requires you to re-link billing yourself.
4. No guarantee against charges
FireShield relies on Google's cost data, which is an estimate and arrives with a delay of up to several hours. Charges can keep accumulating before an alert arrives or an action runs, and an action can fail, for example if FireShield's access was removed, your webhook is unreachable, or a provider is down. You remain solely responsible for all charges on your Google Cloud accounts. FireShield is an additional safety net, not a replacement for your own monitoring, quotas and limits.
5. Plans and billing
Current plans and prices are listed on fireshield.dev. The billing terms of any paid plan are shown to you before you subscribe.
6. Acceptable use
- You will only link projects and billing accounts you are authorized to manage.
- You will not attempt to circumvent FireShield's access controls, rate limits or billing.
- You will only send notifications and webhook calls to destinations you control or are allowed to use.
7. Disclaimer of warranties
FireShield is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, that alerts will arrive in time, or that any action will run or succeed.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, FireShield and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including cloud charges incurred, downtime, or loss of data or resources caused by a billing disconnection you configured.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of FireShield after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
